Setup Workplace Pure Cloud Print for Windows

The Workplace Pure Print Client allows you to print directly from your applications on Windows through the Workplace Pure Cloud. The data is securely transferred to the cloud and you can print your documents easily on any printer connected to the cloud.

Requirements

  • Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 operating system
  • Konica Minolta Universal v4 PCL
    • Download Konica Minolta Universal Printer Driver
  • Local Connections
    • Port 18499 for socket connection from client to LPD (Line Printer Daemon)
    • Port 515 (LPD) for local connections to daemon
  • External connections
    • Outgoing connections from daemon and client to port 443

Print Service Setup

  • Log in to Workplace Pure as administrator and go to Maintenance -> Settings -> Cloud Print
  • Download the Workplace Pure Cloud Print Service installer for your operating system (macOS/Windows)
  • Start the installer with Windows administrator rights
    • Workplace Pure Cloud Print will be added as service
    • Workplace Pure Print Client will be installed
    • Workplace Pure Print Client will be added to your autostart
  • Open the client from the tray, type in your customer domain and authenticate yourself
  • Install the Konica Minolta universal printer driver and set up an LPD printer (see Printer Setup section)
  • You are ready to go and can start to print!

Manual Setup

As an alternative, you can also set up the Cloud Print Service manually:

  • Download the Workplace Pure Cloud Print Service for your operating system (macOS/Windows)
    • Log in as administrator and go to Maintenance -> Settings -> Cloud Print
    • Unzip to local folder e.g. C:\Program Files\Workplace PurePrintService\
    • Install the service via Windows command line tool (cmd):
      sc create Workplace PurePrintService binPath="C:\Program Files\Workplace PurePrintService\Workplace PurePrintService.exe"
    • Start the service:
      sc start Workplace PurePrintService
  • Download Workplace Pure Cloud Print Client for Windows
    • Log in as administrator and go to Maintenance -> Settings -> Cloud Print
    • Save the client to your local program folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\KONICA MINOLTA\)
    • Add the Print Client to your autostart
      • Create a shortcut to the client app
      • Press "Windows"+R and type "shell:startup"
      • Move the shortcut to the autostart folder
  • Start the client, type in your customer domain and authenticate yourself
  • Install the Konica Minolta universal printer driver and set up an LPD Workplace Pure printer (see Printer Setup section)
  • You are ready to go and can start to print!

Cloud Printer Setup

  • Click Windows Start Button
  • Search for "printer"
  • Add a printer or scanner
  • Click on the Add a printer or scanner button and wait until “The printer that I want isn’t listed” is displayed and click on the blue text.
  • Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname
  • Enter localhost/127.0.0.1 and port name "lpd"
  • next dialog is searching for printers in your network, after a while it will stop and display another dialog.
  • Click on Settings...
  • Change Protocol to LPR
  • And activate the "LPR Byte Counting Enabled"
  • Confirm with "Ok"
  • Select the KONICA MINOLTA Universal driver (or download and install) and finish the setup
